If you are new or have no idea what Dappsify FAQs are, this should answer your question: It consists of an interview containing 5 general inquiries and 2 game-specific questions for the blockchain game developer.
There’s an interview with the CEO/Founder of CryptoAssault, Mr.
Dan Chao and here are the questions:
1. How long does it take you and your team to finish this kind of game? How many are you in your team? And why is it important to have more than one person creating a game?
This game will probably take about 9 months to release. We’ll still be working on it after we release though and updating the game constantly with new features. There are 3 of us working full time with another 10 others working part time on a contract basis.
You need a whole team because creating games takes several different disciplines and skill sets. Typically you have art, engineering, and game design. Creating a game is complex and you really need to focus on your discipline. Also, if you only had 1 person working on a game, it would take a lot longer to complete and not to mention, multiple view points are always helpful. And believe me, you don’t want artists coding the game or engineers doing art;)
2. Have you developed or worked on any type of gaming before? What makes you feel that you are interested in creating blockchain games rather than the other online games?
I’ve been working in games for 20 years and have made console/PC, Facebook and mobile games. Some games that I’ve worked on are: War of Nations , Modern War , Crime City, Kingdom Age, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Tomb Raider: Legend and Wandering Willows.
I think that the blockchain provides an exciting new platform for games where items have real value and can be traded between players easily. Someday, I think all games will store their items on the blockchain and I’m excited to see how games evolve because of this.
3. Blockchain game developing can be a tiring process, how will you refrain from burning out?
It’s true that game development can be a tiring process but I think as long as you manage your work hours to be sane, then it’s doable. It’s always great to come in every morning and work on something you are passionate about, so that helps too.
4. What is the most rewarding part about developing games?
Getting to play it once it’s released;)
5. What is one piece of advice you have for aspiring game developers?
Find the area (engineering, art, game design) that you want to focus on and get a degree that supports that. Games are so much more than a good idea and there is a whole world behind making that idea happen. Making a game can involve a lot of people. I believe in getting into a discipline for the love of that discipline and then making games as a secondary goal. Being a great engineer, artist or product person should be what you strive for.
6. What is the difference between making alliance and making a team?
In CryptoAssault, you’ll need a collection of units. These will be units that you own and control and move around on the map to attack others. An alliance will be a group of players that work together. You will not be able to attack other people on your alliance but you will coordinate your attacks, defense and positioning. Your alliance will be able to collect rewards and bonuses to make everyone in the alliance stronger. Alliances will not be in the game at launch but it’ll be one of the first things we work on after we launch.
7. What is the main objective of the game?
The main objective is to take control of the center of the map. You’ll need to have strong, upgraded units to make it to the center. Your units own the territory around them in a radius. If an enemy is close to you, then you will split the territory so it’s best to eliminate enemies close to you. The center has all the good stuff: The best resources are there to upgrade your units, the satellite full of Ethereum has the highest chance of landing there and the territory is the most valuable in the center which leads to a daily payout for all players. Holding onto as much territory as possible is going to really be the key to doing well in the game and the center is where the best territory is at. Remember that if the satellite lands in your territory, then you’ll be rewarded with a good amount of Ethereum. One person per day is rewarded with the satellite payout but everyone is rewarded with a smaller payout based on how much territory they held throughout the
